For many insurance companies improvement of their anti-fraud activities is a condition of survival during the crisis. However, insurance fraud, in spite of all efforts of insurers, remains a complicated issue, and negative trends are still not reversed. Activity of plaintiff lawyers in motor insurance and inertia of law enforcement authorities, emergence of on-line insurance and biased court awards – this is by no means a complete list of external factors that keep deteriorating. Neither the state, nor insurers have so far started to fight insurance fraud in a systemic way. Russian insurance companies will have to address a variety of challenging objectives – to develop collective tools and methods for countering unlawful acts in insurance, to maintain an on-going dialogue with authorities, to strengthen interaction with law-enforcement bodies, to launch an active information and awareness campaign. These objectives are quite successfully achieved in countries with more developed economies and insurance sectors, review and absorption of their experience will help domestic insurers to reach compelling results sooner. Barrier-2016 International Conference will become a step towards building an anti-insurance fraud system and provide a forum for review and mastering of international and domestic experience. Agenda of the Conference includes discussions and round tables on the issues that are most pressing and sensitive for insurers.
Goals and Objectives of the Conference
Discussions between members of the insurance community and representatives of all stakeholders from government bodies of the most topical areas of antifraud agenda in different insurance lines, information exchange, review of international experience, involvement of Russian organizations in international mechanisms for coordination and cooperation in curbing insurance fraud, search and punishment of perpetrators of such crimes.
